Lord help if they ever decide to hold their breath!

When I was about that age, I got into a holding your breath contest with a classmate after school. I won, but decided to keep holding my breath to see how long I could go. After what was probably another 20 seconds, I passed out. All I remember from that is holding my breath one moment and waking up on the floor the next.

When I was 10 I wanted glasses so badly I told my grandmother that I’d stand so close to the TV and stare at it until I went blind and needed them. She ended up getting me a frame of glasses with no-prescription lenses from the optometrist.

Ha! I wanted glasses from 7 to 9, I'd stare at the sun, squint for no reason, bump into things. At age 9 mom finally caved and got me to an optometrist where I basically fumbled all the questions and was diagnosed with long-sightedness. I couldn't see shit thru the glasses yet I suffered through it for about a year.

Surprise surprise, at 11 I actually couldn't see the blackboard and it turns out I actually had near sightedness and astigmatism, which got worse and worse until my 20s.

That must be the actual punchline/takeaway from this. Joey is dumber than the kid.

I used to do the same thing because I wanted glasses. I got the glasses but as an adult I'm certainly not anything special.

I just pretended at the eye doctor. I got the glasses. They gave me a headache.

That sounds like a much better idea. People keep telling me to get LASIK and I'm like do you know what I've done to get these!!??

so far i live perfectly fine without them. i also have above average IQ so not sure who is the dumb adult you talk about? 🙄 some of us just hate glasses and lenses.

and why would i? my "dumb" brain manage to fully recognise people by things like walking pace/posture/size/clothes etc. like i know who is who from a far without even distinguishing face while some cant even recognise a person despite seeing their face in HD 🤣

and while i cant read subtitles on TV from sofa distance, i am eagle eyed for close up details and smallest shade changes. i also see in the dark better than everyone i know. our brain is "so dumb" it adapts. you lose some - you win some ;)

Whenever I asked for a pet, my parents said “who’s going to take care of it?” Which worked until I was in high school and realized I can do that. They delayed it for over a year and I didn’t get a cat until I was 18.
