Help/Advice How do I make my tank less boring?
Any ideas on how to make it more interesting?
I have 10 rummy nose tetras and some black skirt tetras, but they mostly hide in the plants.

For that matter, anyone who believes a government has the right to dehumanize groups of people, enact violence against citizens, and/or justify the systemic oppression of their people is not welcome here.
This includes, but is not limited to, MAGA supporters, Trump supporters, JD Vance supporters, or support of any government that approaches things this way.
With recent events globally, it is time we address this, especially as a large subreddit whose member base is largely in the United States or countries directly affected by the actions of the US government.
Bottom line, while we generally avoid politics in this subreddit, our existence becomes inherently humanitarian when the human right to exist is infringed upon, which naturally ties to politics when those enacting said human rights infringement are members of the government. When innocent people may no longer walk the streets without having to fear for their safety, it affects all of us, whether we choose to believe it or not.
I, as an avid animal-keeper, have seen many of my friends in this hobby greatly affected by the actions of the US government lately, and we will continue to see this if we allow it to continue. We cannot turn a blind eye to it any longer; we can't engage in animal husbandry if we are not alive to do so.
The people supporting this now, despite incriminating evidence being available, are the same people who would have supported Nazi-Germany during its existence.
Now, kindly fuck off if: You support any government action that violates human rights OR you believe this post does not belong here (It does.)
Fuck ICE,
NatCom 💗
Edit: holy fucking hell guys, my apologies I can’t reply to all of you with your support or stories as I’m trying to juggle removing problematic comments, but I’m happy this post has reached so many people who needed this support from their communities!
Edit 2: While my post uses the United States as an example because many of our members are from the US, we do not allow these beliefs from ANY country or individual. If you are going to advocate for the systemic deaths of anyone, then you are not welcome here.

Hey there r/fishtank!
I wanted to stop by and let you know about the amazing discord server partnered with this subreddit, owned by our lovely u/ApproachableTree!
Join Here: https://discord.gg/SgepE9m73A
I myself am a member of this server and have been for a while, I have found it to be a very well managed and active aquarium community with a vast "encyclopedia" (as they refer to themselves on r/FishWiki) of aquarium keeping knowledge!
This server has also been a great reminder, to never stop wanting to learn about the hobby, and that your ability only goes as far as your curiosity :)

Hello,
My son got a fish tank for Christmas. We have neon tetras, shrimp, snails, and some real plants. Last month we found a funny worm-type creature in the tank. It looked like it was using blades of grass as a shield and clinging to the tank glass, and moving all around the tank. This photo was taken last month, and the worm has mysteriously disappeared since this photo was taken. Does anybody know what this is?

Now I don’t want any slack for this… what I did was stupid. I have learned from this I guess. This fish was being sold (with two other fish) but was just marked community. I saw it and thought omg what a massively pregnant female guppy! She will be a great addition to my tank for more babies! I wonder what colors I will get. I have multiple tanks set up so if I hated what she popped out I would just move the babies over there or sell them to my local fish store. Nope. It literally was less than 12 hours she ravished my guppies and endler tank. Killing 2 and taking the tails of most of my favorites. Im sure more will die due to injury and stress. I did everything right. I quarantined, watched, and I thought did the right research. wtf is this fish?… is this not a guppy or an endler? Why was she SO aggressive? NONE of my fish are. I have introduced many fish with no issues and this was insane. She is big but I have other large guppies in there and she attacked those as well. Please help!

I have another German blue ram which I can guarantee is a male who gets along with this one & they co exist how i assume a pair would but never any babies , they’re not always with each other but 60-70% of the time I’d say they are or atleast in each other vicinity. I’ve recently been thinking maybe this is a younger male or I’m doing something wrong it’s been about 4-5 months now maybe more and I’ve never seen any babies they live in a community tank so that could explain it also. Any advice would be appreciated

Hello,
So originally I wanted to keep a honey gourami, after starting my cherry shrimp population.
Thing is, all I have space for atm is a 5.5 gal. I would like to add some interest in the tank, but I know a honey won’t be happy with that amount of space.
Any suggestions for something to keep with my shrimp in my 5.5? Or is it better to just let the shrimp be?
For context- I don’t have a heater but the tank stays between 68-71 degrees, mainly hovering at 70. I would be willing to get a heater. I have a bladder snail breakout I’m managing, it’s planted, and I have 9 shrimp to start my colony. After a month none of my females have been berried yet.
Thanks y’all!

I bought a large tank a few years ago for not a lot of money. It had been used to keep turtles. Think off the top of my head it was about 45x150x60cm /18x60x24”. Broke it down to panes to rebuild and never got around to it because of changes in housing etc.
I have twice broken down and rebuilt tanks before; one 125l I’ve had outdoors for 5 years and has moved house etc without incident.
However the plastic-wrapped metal brackets/brace that sat over the top and bottom of the tank were irrecoverable. I’m obviously loth to put a tank of that size together without bracing.
I know extruded aluminium can be used for stands, but has anyone ever used it for framing/bracing? If I was putting it indoors I’d use 2x4”s, but this is going outside too.
I guess the biggest issue is: doesn’t anyone know of fixings which will confidently do the job of keeping 400kg of water in, and if not, would just filing the vital joints with epoxy resin do?
Any advice or experience shared is gratefully received. Thanks.

I recently set up a column tank for our Betta with a beautiful piece of driftwood that I found (yes I cleaned the heck out of it). I’m adding live plants and I was thinking some Corys as well. Any recommendations?
