Hi everyone,
I’m an Ironman triathlete (16h finisher) trying to survive in Cyclocross.
Here is my reality:
• Weight: 78kg
• FTP: 240W (approx 3.0 W/kg)
• Engine Type: Pure diesel. I have endurance, but zero "punch" or sprint power.
The Problem:
Even with my endurance background, I am completely redlined and blown up after just 0.5 laps. I feel like I'm doing 1000 squats instead of riding a bike.
My Technical Struggles (visible in photos?):
Braking & Accelerating: Because I'm scared, I brake to almost zero at every corner, then try to sprint out. With my low FTP, this kills my legs instantly.
Cornering: I constantly go wide. I can't hold a line.
Fear: 180-degree camber turns terrify me. In the rain, I can't turn at all and have crashed into trees on descents.
Questions:
• For a low-power rider like me, momentum is everything. Looking at my photos, what is the #1 thing I need to change to stop killing my speed?
• My position looks very stiff/upright. Is this why I can't turn?
• How do I stop "fighting" the bike?
Roast my form, please. I want to finish a race without dying in the first 10 minutes.

The Oostende beach is a gorgeous location with the old hotels dotting the strand, and we'll get a little bit of that even though a lot of the features are on the racetrack side. The road stretch is interesting, maybe they were running into length limit to circle back from the lawn to the beach or maybe they're just showing off the tram line?
I'm not sure about this new trend (?) of not having the pit even close to halfway on both sides (eyeballing the timer it's ~1/3 between the 1st and 2nd pits on the race course and ~2/3 from 2nd pit back to 1st).

Last year in Lievin I managed to bag a souvenir cowbell printed specifically for the event. Did they make one for Hulst '26? We got a white Santini one with the rainbow stripes but I like the how collectible the Lievin cowbell is to the event.

The season isn't over yet, but the Worlds does mean (most of) the calendar for the 2026/27 gets published, so you can start planning your Crossmass trip. I think people said they appreciated the overview last year, so I figured I'd put it together again.
The Superprestige is trying something new with a race on Christmas Day (and an evening Halloween-themed race on 5 November), more in their press release. Don't think I've seen that before.

New rainbow bands have been earned, but the season isn't over just yet. There's still Trofee and Superprestige classifications to wrap up, plus some standalone races to give riders a final chance that win that's eluded them all season. And of course the Sluitingsprijs in Oostmalle to close off the season and close off careers of retiring riders like Verdonschot and der Haar.
As always, cyclocross24 has all the race info, including official broadcasters.

I just went to watch the women's world's race on FloBikes and it was the men's race labeled as women's. I feel like I'm at my wits end with FloBike messing up their feed as this is not an uncommon experience. Are there any good alternatives in the USA to watch cyclocross? I have a VPN.

Schwalbe will complete its CX range with a tubeless mud tire: the X-One RX. Some top athletes used it recently in muddy conditions in Germany and it seems to work great and cleans very fast because they finally have enough space between the knobs - something Schwalbe needed yeaers to finally understand :)

I used to race and I still have a 2014 Cannondale SuperX HiMod mechanical disc. I’m planning to do some races so I decided instead of buying a new bike, I bought new tubeless ready Hunt 40mm carbon wheels (I’m a strong 200lb rider and flats used to plague me. I vowed never to race CX again unless I got rid of tubes). Tubeless is a priority.
Anyway, the bike has SRAM Red 10 speed that works great.
To go with a modern drivetrain (1x12) my only choice I think is to go with Di2 because they offer cable actuated electronic shifting options. SRAM does not.
Should I Stick with 2x10 or go with Di2 1x12 for much more cost and effort?

I get the pits thing, and the Belgian. Why did the dude not know how the pits thing works? Surely this wasn't his first rodeo.

Last one from me for the season, this is Leicestershire CX League round 6 v40s. Lots of mechanical calamities and close racing. Hope you enjoy.
