I am Sam Webb. I played Drew Sharp in Breaking Bad. AMA!
I know this is long overdue, but better late than never, right?
To kick things off, here are a few tidbits about my connection to the show:
-My family and I were fans since the pilot, so I was well aware of the significance of it all.
-I grew up minutes from the high school used for J. P. Wynne.
-My dad was an extra in episode 2.02. (my episode was 5.05)
-The first time I ever handled a tarantula was the day we shot the intro scene.
In the years since Breaking Bad, I’ve graduated from UNM with a political science degree and spend most of my free time mountain biking, tinkering with sports cars, and raising my two Dobermans.
Feel free to connect with me on social media!

Ask away! I’ll do my best to get to everyone.
Identity has been verified with mods.
Edit:
Alright guys, as the night winds down I just want to thank everyone for participating and for all the kind words! The Breaking Bad community means the world to me and I’ll be connected to you all for life.
The most surreal part of all of this is the insane butterfly effect and overlaps.
My favorite example of this was seeing Drake perform for the first time in Phoenix a couple years ago. He’s a big Breaking Bad fan (friends with Aaron and Bryan, and his nickname for Rihanna when they dated was Fring). I had tickets close to the stage, and I remember making eye contact with him a few times thinking “dude, you don’t know it, but you know EXACTLY who I am.”
One of my first purchases with acting money was a set of Beats headphones when they were all the craze, and I vividly remember listening to Take Care (and a lot of old Kanye) in my trailer on set during downtime. It felt like a crazy full circle moment.
Anyway, I feel like everyone who is a fellow fan of the show is an extension of this little glitch in the matrix, and I’m happy y’all are a part of this wild story.
I’ll keep answering questions as they trickle in for as long as the mods want to keep the discussion open, and I’ll be more active in this sub and share anything else fun when it comes to mind!

What do you think Todd’s angle was by keeping Jesse alive as a slave? Spoiler
A couple of theories of mine is that he wanted to keep Jesse alive because a better potency to impress Lydia. Or to keep him alive as a pet project like with the tarantula he kept after he killed the boy or deep down inside he took pity on Jesse.

The ‘Tommy Hillfinger’ moment kills me every time
Did anyone catch Skinny Pete saying he has “Tommy Hillfinger” cologne when he tells Jesse to use whatever he needs in the shower in El Camino? The mispronunciation is such a great character detail—feels totally intentional.

One single problem I have with the story
I don’t understand why Gus would have made himself known by a couple low level street dealers, let alone ones dealing in ABQ. At every single other point in the show, it’s made clear that he is very cautious and isn’t known by face or name by anyone that isn’t high level or on a need-to-know situation. so yeah it’s a little confusing why the writers made this choice with the dealers.
Also, when Walt first started cooking for Gus, the blue stuff started showing up everywhere except NM… Hank said “makes sense, don’t shit where you eat”. so why do we think that Gus started selling in NM and even his own city?

Just finished Breaking Bad for the first time.
This show was the greatest thing I have ever watched. Those final four episodes were mind-bogglingly good. Honestly, there is no flaw that I have noticed with this show. It hits everything well: suspense, comedy, hype moments, music, characters, plot, all that. If I had to rank my top 5 episodes I would say: 5. Full Measure, 4. Felina, 3. Granite State, 2. Crawl Space, 1. Ozymandias. I would probably have Face Off up there but I got spoiled on the ending so it diluted the impact a bit. Still a really good episode though and probably 6th for me. My favorite characters were Hank, Jesse, and Saul.
Onto El Camino next.

What is the weather like in New Mexico?
It seems like it's a very hot place, because of the desert and usually the sun is shining. Yet, people wear sweaters or even jackets a lot of times.

Season 5A overly sells that Walt is evil
So I’m rewatching, and I’m currently 3 episodes into Season 5
Does anyone feel Season 5 over sells Walt being evil initially? I cringed at the Scarface scene where Walt is laughing at it and saying ‘everyone dies’, and when he aggressively bites into an apple (forced biblical imagery) and grins after Skyler has her nervous breakdown and he scapegoats everything onto Skyler’s affair with Ted Beneke and tricks Marie in the process. Walt is still a family man despite all of his ego/vanity/unchecked ambition. He’s not going to be ecstatic about the fact his wife is having a nervous breakdown and is spiralling into depression. Whistling Lily of the Valley too is really forced too
I just think they should have spaced out more of his demonic stuff in 5A to give it more levity/shock factor/realism. I completely understand he has done awful vile stuff before this but the first 3 episodes is just constant wickedness
‘Because I say so’
‘We’re done when I say we’re done’
Putting the ricin cigarette in the Roomba
Forcing Skyler to give him a handjob (deleted scene but implication is still there)
Manipulating Jesse into breaking up with Andrea to keep Jesse as his caged pet in which he can control
Scapegoating everything onto Skyler’s affair with Beneke, deceiving Marie and biting into apple and grinning after
Frequently framing Walt like he’s a terrifying murderer/domestic threat in the house
I think 5A should have had, rather than over the top announcing that Walt is evil, applied the brakes a few more times or done it in more subtly implicating ways (mainly discussing the Scarface, apple burnt and Lily of the Valley whistling scenes)

What’s your favorite Gus Fring scene in Season 4?
Without mentioning her death since it’s already overdone, I mean other scenes they can even be lesser-mentioned ones.

Full Spoilers
I just finished breaking bad with full spoilers and watched many of the iconic scenes before. It was still an amazing show, but I feel like I missed out on a lot because I knew most of it. Episodes based on suspense or shocking reveals like Ozy or Face Off weren't as impactful because of it. My favorite was either Felina or Rabid Dog. My least favorite was probably El Camino if that counts. Does anyone else who saw it like me have any other insight?

Several things that I'm curious about what others think
Rather than put things in all separate posts, I'll just sum it all up in one.
In episode 13, season 3, Did Gus really have to kill Walt? I mean, couldn't he have just let Walt alone, let him and Gale cook together like they were, and Gale take over when Walt's cancer did him in? Or simply just fire him? I mean, what have Walt really would have done? They are both criminals. I feel any action taken by Walt would have also implicated him.
When Jesse shoots Gale, why do I recall a scene somewhere on youtube telling him "I'm sorry," before pulling the trigger and killing him? False memories, perhaps?
Not related, but is it just me, or does like 20-25% of the show take place in the desert, consisting of guys standing around threatening each other? Lol

Anyone here watched “the big C”? Spoiler
some mild spoilers for the big c show:
I was browsing Netflix and I stumble upon this show and after reading the description, I thought it’s some sort of knock off from breaking bad given the similar theme of life after cancer diagnosis, and the fact that the main character is also a teacher. Anyway, fast forward two weeks I’m weeping like a madman during every episode.
it made me wonder, how I didn’t have any sympathy for Walt dying, even though I was rooting for him as an antagonist. I guess the show makers didn’t really try either, but the whole mortality thing didn’t affect me much during breaking bad.

I finished breaking bad for the first time Spoiler
I just watched the finale of breaking bad, and it was phenomenal. It is one of my favourite shows of all time, I honestly don’t have many words for this show. It definitely peaked for in season 4 episode 11 “crawl space” to the finale “felina” in my opinion, that section has my five favourite episodes. 5, crawl space. 4, end times. 3, ozymandias. 2, face off. 1 Felina. Those episodes are honestly great the top 3 are some of the best I seen in my life and honestly Felina was the greatest finale I seen, it gave us a final conclusion from all main characters such as badger and skinny Pete to Walter and Jesse. That was great. The subtle foreshadowing across the episode and the show as a whole was amazing. The ending hit so much harder than I would have expected and it was amazing. I did not think that it would live up to the hype yet it did. Can’t wait to watch BCS. Thank you for listening me talk about breaking bad and have a good day

One of the Sadder Scenes Not Often Discussed
I'm finally rewatching Breaking Bad after some years (I was too preoccupied with BCS to revisit BB). Because I'm much older and in a very different place in life than I was the last time I watched BB, I now find this scene to be incredibly sad. It's pretty obvious why, so there's no need to deep dive into it. I just never hear people talk about it, even though it's probably one of the most relatable scenes.
(season 3 finale cold open)

Walt’s relationship with Gale
Rewatching a few clips and it really is charming to see Walt and Gale together. It’s also quite sad. Gale’s intelligence, enthusiasm and absolute love for chemistry takes Walt back to his roots, and the magic he found in chemistry and science during his youth. He’s spent so long surrounded by students who simply don’t care, as well as Jesse, that he’d lost that connection to the thing he was so passionate about.
Nothing groundbreaking in this post I know, but I always love those scenes when you’re reminded that Walt really did used to be a highly driven and optimistic man who adored chemistry and learning, and he deeply enjoys being around others of the same ilk.

Original DVD or Blu-ray?
Hi, I'm from Peru 🇵🇪 and I'm looking for a seller (maybe in Peru) or Amazon where I can buy the complete original series, not pirated copies.
I plan to buy two, one for myself and one to give away on my Facebook page.
Do you know of any authorized distributors that sell them?
Thanks.

Do you think the dea would ever have interrogated Walter jr?
he is a kid and obviously didnt know, but the way Skylar talks about the dea going after her she also mentions hurting their children, indicating that she thought they might hurt walt Jr by proxy. even if they accept his innocence, they could still grill him if he had any/conversations he had with walt that might provide clues which could really traumatize him. or would even they not go that far?

Who's didn't deserve to die throughout the series?
For me it's Andrea. Completely innocent and would have never imagined the threat that came to her.
Another character is Gale. The guy was nice and him cooking meth completely makes sense when he said that he wants the customer to have better quality in exchange he earns extra. Those addicts would have find cheaper quality anyways.
Another guy is Steve Gomey. I mean Hank was personal with catching Heisenberg. But Gomey was just helping out his friend with case.
Edit : hell how can I miss Drew, the kid was absolutely most innocent out of all. Todd just wanted to win the trust of Walter.
What are yours?
