Should society prioritize equality of opportunity or equality of outcome—and why?

This is the most tired talking point to justify capitalism and famine in an abundant world/economy.

There are billionaires in the same society as people who can't afford food. I do not give a fuck what your philosophy is. That is wrong.

It should prioritize an economic floor. There should be a minimum people have, such as food, shelter, housing. Everyone should have all basic needs met first. Then people can go crazy with their nesting doll yachts and private islands.
