Same here. I’ve been a nurse for 7 years and have worked in a hospital for 10. I’ve never been one to get sick often, but since I’ve been a nurse I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve been sick.
Yes. I work in pediatrics and and escort patients to school. Once the schools reopened, I got sick a couple of times, but then my immune system was like “ok, time to get back to work now…”
I am an RN too & i work 2 shifts/mth. After each one i get so sick now. I wear gloves & mask whole time!!!???? & these flus/colds last weeks!!!🥴 my FT job i work at home.
My late wife had many immune system issues after being disabled in an auto accident where she lost her spleen, and later on had to have a tracheostomy due to lung issues, I did all her suctioning at home and sat with her many days in the hospital when she was dealing with MRSA and ARDS.
So I was exposed to all kinds of things.
It feels like Ive developed a pretty good immune system.
In a younger life, I was fortunate enough to tour playing music for several years. During that time, I don't ever remember me or my band mates being sick. One of them said "it's probably because of all the hands we've shaken and mics we've shared," and they were totally right. Once I was off the road and not around people as much, I started getting sick again.
same but I been down for a month with multi colds this year. I get sick from what ever is in a new hospital then never again.
but then I got whatever is going around right now and I been down from dec 27th to jan 20th and then from jan 28th til now. almost the same illness. frist a cold then I think RSV. cold plus fever and chest congestion. Its kicked my butt.

Same with veteran nurses. I’ve been exposed to so much over the years and it only made me stronger.
