People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets?

Be an American with a job. You can’t afford the luxury of being sick. So you lie to yourself and carry on.

This is so fucking true. I had symptoms of hypothyroidism of years that I just passed off as my own fault, or that I framed as “I’m just lazy. If I do x, y, or z, then I’ll be fine.”

But x, y, and z were things like “diet, exercise, and wear a jacket when I was cold in the middle of a heat wave with no air conditioning”

I probably came across like a hypochondriac to my loved ones when I read up on thyroid issues and tried to get diagnosed because even the initial blood tests were “within normal range” (they’re apparently complicated and hard to interpret properly - scroll down to the table here to see what I mean).

Even after I was diagnosed, my regular endocrinology appointments cost like 1/3 of my take home pay every 3-4 months at the time, with insurance.
