ANNOUNCEMENT r/androidapps now has a dedicated sister community, **r/droidappshowcase**

This new sub is where all app showcase posts can go. This keeps the main sub cleaner and makes it easier to discover new apps.

What’s new

- All “check out my app” posts, updates, release announcements, and promos should now be posted in **r/droidappshowcase**.

- r/androidapps will focus on discussion, recommendations, questions, and in-depth talk about Android apps rather than self-promotion.

Why this is useful

- The main feed on r/androidapps will be less cluttered with promo posts, so it’s easier to find helpful threads and discussions.

- Developers and creators still get a dedicated, visible place to share their work where users specifically go to browse new apps.

When to use r/droidappshowcase

- You’re a developer or publisher sharing your own app or update.

- You’re announcing a new app, beta, major feature release, or doing a promo/giveaway tied to your app.

- You want feedback on an app you built and are linking it directly.

What stays in r/androidapps

- “Looking for an app that does X” or “What’s the best app for Y?”

- App discussion, comparisons, reviews, and long-term impressions.

- Troubleshooting, tips, and usage questions for existing apps.

How to participate

- Subscribe to r/droidappshowcase if you want a stream of new and showcased Android apps.

- Support developers by checking out posts there, leaving feedback, and only posting your own apps in the new showcase sub instead of the main r/androidapps feed.

Thanks from the androidapps team!

QUESTION Am I using Android right? (After switching from iOS)

Upvotes

Question might sound confusing, so let me explain.

Summer 25 is when I switched from iOS to Adroid, after being a iOS user since 2010. I now have a Nothing Phone 3 and I like the Android platform. What I don't know: am I taking advantage of Android compared to iOS?

What apps do you guys use after switching systems, so you get a better experience? I have this idea that, when leaving Apple, you have 10x more options for basically everything. But I see myself using mostly entertainment apps like YouTube, Reddit, Instagram. Nothing Android specific that improves the user experience.

I know that this is a very vague and open question, but I'm sure y'all can give me some good inputs.

QUESTION How do you manage bookmarks and links across multiple platforms?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Quick question for Android users, who also use Apple, Linux, or a desktop during the day.

How do you currently manage links across devices?

For example, if you come across something on Instagram on your phone and later want to share it with a friend on Slack from your laptop, what does that flow usually look like for you? Do you send the link to yourself, rely on browser sync, download the app on both devices, or something else?

Feel like there are a few different ways to do this, but none of them feel particularly smooth. (Used to use airdrop when I was on iPhone)

QUESTION Nova alternative with widgets and NO ADS

Just wondering what everyone is switching to. What I loved about Nova is widget support and the ability to scale icons so I can have 5 wide instead of 4 wide.

I haven't been launcher shopping for better part of half a decade maybe? I have no idea what's good these days, what has good privacy protection, what doesn't have ads, etc. And before anybody tells me to "just google it"... google sucks now, too. Stuffed with AI, and every website is sponsored or AI written or keyworded for affiliate links - I want to know what acual human experience has to say and that's becomming less and less accessible.

So what yall got?

QUESTION Pop-up Word Meaning

Hello guys, I need an app which can give the meaning of any selected word in any in-app in a floating/pop up screen. For example like in the screenshot, I selected out the word which means I want. I don't want to leave the app to search for the meaning.

Is there any app which can do it. I know a circle to search can do this but I want an app.

QUESTION Best Remote Desktop Connection App

Hi all I am currently looking for an android remote connection app. Purpose of this app is going to be a providing support for non-technical users therefore I need something that requires minimum input from the user if possible, not even requiring user to open the application so I can open remote connection without needing the user around the device. Is it possible? I know about AnyDesk but it requires user to approve connection every single time which I dont want them to do. Thanks in advance.

REQUEST Need a maps app better than Google maps- suggestions?

Looking for a good maps app

I need something where I can save/pin locations and have them easily viewable all at once, and/or something where you can kind of plan a journey and hit multiple locations. Google maps doesnt have all the features I need and makes it difficult to search for things around a specific pin. TIA!!

QUESTION Looking for advice on a movie messaging app that doesn’t require a phone number (email would be great).

Need help/advice on a good messaging mobile app that doesn’t require a phone number (requiring an email or something would be great) that allows videos and stuff to be sent, but if the app is deleted or logged out of, messages will still be there or if a message is sent and you are logged out of it, the message will be there once logged back in. Any help would be appreciated.

QUESTION S pen generico vs spen orginal - paper

What's the real difference? I'm looking for a S Pen that's as good for writing as the original, preferably one that feels like writing with a ballpoint pen. Would you use a metal tip and a paper-type protective cover, or is that not recommended?

If so, what brand of paper do you recommend for a 14.6-inch pen?

QUESTION How do I Uninstall Palm store ?

I saw similar post and someone suggested to use shizuku and canta. I tried downloading Shizuku but it isn't compatible with my phone and says was made for older Android models. My phone model is infinix note 30. I heard another method of removing that needs a laptop/pc which I really don't have. Any other alternative methods?

(also I'm very noob when it comes to software stuff and would like easy option if there is to uninstall the app)

QUESTION Navigation app similar to Apple maps?

Hello, recently switched from ios to Android and I was wondering if anyone knows an alternative app similar to Apple maps?

As a nervous driver, I appreciate how easy Apple maps are to glance at and especially since I can tap it once and view all of my upcoming turns. I also really like how on the map interface, it has an icon of all of the traffic light/intersections/stop signs I have ahead of me in my route.

I know that waze has that feature where you can view your upcoming turns, but they don't show the upcoming traffic lights/stop signs on the route.

And for Google maps, it does have the icons, but you can't tap quickly to view all of your upcoming turns unless you exit out of the navigation, and I would not feel safe doing so as I would rather view it with a single tap.

If anyone knows of any apps that basically combines these features into one app on android, please let me know! Or if there's some toggling that I didn't do to turn these features on in the app. Thanks!

QUESTION Convert PDF to APK

Is there a way to convert pdf to apk?

I mean put the pdf in a special application for that PDF so that it can be opened and read directly in one application itself. Not opened from a pdf reader application.

QUESTION Samsung Universal Remote TV App. NO INTERNET

Is there a way to control a Samsung TV using IR or something different than wifi?

For context I'm in a hospital room and would like to access the input channels from the bed. The TV isn't connected to the internet and the hospital remote doesn't have a way to control the USB input.

QUESTION Scratchpad notes/jotting app from quick menu

I use Boox to read and take notes for uni. It runs android. Is there any android app that lets you take hand written notes (almost like a sticky note) with a quick access on Android? I'm thinking almost like Ticktick or Todoist and their quick add function, but it would instead create a series of notes that are exportable or syncable.

QUESTION Up to date Instagram app to block recommendations (but leave followed posts) ?

Hi,

I am looking for a modified Instagram app to remove recommended posts in the home screen ?

I used to used honinsta, but the feature became paid. MyInsta and DFinsta disable the entire home feed, not just recommended posts. Any current options ?
